Assessment Required for Registry-approved Trainings - April 10, 2010
Recently, the Trainer/Training Approval Committee reviewed and approved a policy change that requires most Registry-approved trainings to include a written Knowledge and Skill Assessment. The policy change was made as part of the Palm Beach County Registry's ongoing commitment to ensure quality trainings. A Knowledge and Skill Assessment will be required of all single session trainings and training series that require Quality Assurance Goal Sheet and PACES forms for approval. SEEK Scholarship Awards and Registry-approved Trainers — Fee Schedule
The SEEK Scholarship program is available to support practitioners pursuing education and
training in Palm Beach County. As a Registry-approved trainer providing Registry-approved
training, you are in the fortunate position of offering training to practitioners who can
access SEEK Scholarships to attend your training events.
Your established trainer level with the Registry determines the amount of SEEK Scholarship
awarded to practitioners. Our effort to maximize the availability of scholarship funds has
required establishing a new schedule of awards.
To help you determine the amount of SEEK awarded to practitioners to attend your training
please refer to the schedule of awards.

Trainer-Training Qualifications & Standards Early Child Care & Education.
The Trainer-Training Standards, an outgrowth of the Core Competencies, ensure that professional development workshops address these competencies through quality instruction that focuses on the needs of the early child care and education workforce and the goals of their programs. These standards also outline training agency supports for quality. The Trainer-Training Standards were reviewed in 2007 by a focus group comprised of Palm Beach County stakeholders in early child care and education. The group unanimously agreed on the standards and their importance to the quality of informal trainings. To learn more about the Training-Trainer Standards, click here.

Procedures for Training Approval
Community-based training is training that is provided by Registry-approved independent trainers. The training may be provided to one center or it may be a training event that is open to the community of early childhood practitioners. The training approval procedure for community-based training requires that the Training Approval Request form be submitted by the Trainer. To assure the quality of the training, we encourage you to provide Registry-approved trainings. A list of Registry-approved trainers is available to you from the Registry upon your request. In addition, please be advised that CEUs (Continuing Education Units) can only be awarded by trainers or agencies authorized by IACET or other national CEU organization. For more information about CEUs, please visit the IACET Fact Sheet.
Please use the Registry Sign-In sheet to record attendance. At the completion of the training, please have the participants complete the Training Evaluation form. The Trainer Evaluation forms along with the training sign in sheet must be returned to the Registry.
With regard to advance time requirements, please keep in mind that the SEEK program has its own requirements for advance notice, and those must be adhered to if SEEK funds will be requested by attendees.
